Headlines and Features

Hello SMS Families!
We are still waiting on the green light to bring ALL students back in a hybrid model and we are anticipating PED making an announcement very soon. To be prepared, we need to find out how many families intend on sending their students back so we can work on scheduling and cohorts.
The survey consists of two questions -one for elementary and one for secondary. If you have children in both please answer both questions. If you have a child in only the elementary or only the secondary please only answer that specific question.
Please keep in mind that this will be in a hybrid model with some virtual learning continuing and if you don't feel comfortable sending your child back we understand and they can remain in remote learning.
Please share this with people you know that may not be on social media. The link will also be posted on our website and will be open until 5:00 p.m. on Friday January 22, 2021. If you need to complete a hard copy please contact me at 575-483-3434 or juliecrum@springerschools.org.

Sunday, December 13, 2020
NM PED has released a few updates regarding what January will look like and I wanted to share the information with you.
1. No in person learning until January 18th (no impact on us as the Board voted to extend 100% remote through January 15, 2021.
2. The gym/cafeteria will NOT be open for internet usage until January 18th, 2021. PED is requiring that starting December 28th we participate in surveillance testing for two weeks in order to have students on campus. I am sorry if this creates issues (specifically internet) please email me at juliecrum@springerschools.org and we will visit.
3. At this time there is no mention of bringing 4th-6th or secondary back.
4. Parents of K-3 please don't forget that you will need to turn in your child's iPad on December 15th using a drive through service. If you need the schedule again please let me know. Please send the charger with the device and make sure the device is free from spills, sticky stuff, etc. Your child will get his/her device back on January 4th.
5. Last day for lunches before winter break will be 12/17/2020. You will be provided with frozen meals (like at Thanksgiving) on the 17th.
Wishing everyone a wonderful and safe holiday season.

ipad

December 3, 2020

Dear SMS Families,

On December 15, 2020 we will be collecting all iPads for the winter break.  During the winter break new software will be added to the devices that will allow for updates to occur without having to use a code. Please make sure your child’s iPad is as clean as possible. We will collect them in a drive through manner using the schedule below:

Drive through will occur in the front parking lot of the high school on December 15, 2020

10:00-11:00  Kindergarten

10:30-11:30   1st Grade

11:00-12:00 2nd and 3rd Grade

Please make sure you bring your child’s device and charger. Please make sure the device is powered off.  We will label the device with your child’s name to ensure that your child will get his/her same device back in January.

If the above schedule won’t work for you please call me and I will set up a time to collect from you.  All devices must be collected by the end of the day on December 16th.

Thank you!

Julie Crum

corona virus

Due to the increased Covid-19 cases in our area we are making some changes in how we do things so that we can keep everyone safe. The changes are as follows:
Effective today (11/30/2020) Meal delivery will be no contact. The driver will honk and place your meals on your porch. Please do not come out until the driver is back in the vehicle. If there is another place you would like the meals left please call 575-483-3434 and let me know. Also, if you have pets, please have them in an area away from where the meals will be delivered.
Effective Tuesday December 1, 2020, our gym will ONLY be open from 9-12 for internet usage until further notice. I apologize for the inconvenience but it is something we must do for the time being.
Thank you! Stay healthy and safe!
